At the young age of 18, Christian Pulisic is playing at a level that is not typically seen at his age. The United States men’s national soccer team has yet to see a talent like this before. Pulisic may be what the U.S. needs to get to the next level in soccer supremacy. At the age of seven, when he spent 12 months living in England playing for Brackley Town in Northamptonshire is when he ultimately realized just how good he was and how much he loved playing soccer, “I just started to love it so much and I said: “Wow. I’m pretty good! I think I can do something with this game.”
From there he went on to become the youngest foreigner to ever score in the Bundesliga, the youngest ever to score for the US national team, youngest ever to collect a brace in the Bundesliga and the youngest player to ever represent Borussia Dortmund in the Champions league. Fresh off winning the German Cup he now sets his eyes on the USMNT and securing their place in the top three to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
During 2018 CONCACAF Qualifiers he played in seven games, scored three goals and assisted five times. Pulisic has made a name for himself in Germany and continues to be loved by fans here in the United States as well. Too often we have seen young talent get the opportunity to prove themselves at the top levels only to flame out into mediocrity.
His technical skills on offense are far better than the young talent that the USMNT have seen from their youth and when he turns his attention to defense he has the smarts to know where he needs to be at any given moment. There is no question he fully belongs to put on the U.S. uniform or to start every game. His maturity at such a young age of 18 and only will be 19 and the upcoming World Cup, he is sure the be the next face of the United States men’s national soccer team for years to come.
